As the holy month of Ramadan approaches—a time of mercy, generosity, and shared responsibility—Noor Society for People with Disabilities reaches out to our supporters with both gratitude and urgency.
The past period following the war has been exceptionally difficult for families in Bethlehem. The near-total collapse of tourism, once the backbone of the local economy, has resulted in widespread loss of income. Hotels, small businesses, workshops, and family-run shops have closed or drastically reduced operations, leaving many households without reliable livelihoods. Rising food prices and limited employment opportunities have placed families under immense pressure.
For families caring for persons with disabilities, the situation is even more severe. Caregivers often cannot work full-time, while medical, rehabilitation, and daily care costs continue to rise. Today, many of these families are struggling to provide even the most basic necessities.
During the coming year and throughout Ramadan, Noor Society plans to support a larger number of the most vulnerable families by distributing Ramadan food parcels that help sustain households throughout the month of fasting. These parcels will include essential food items to support Iftar and Suhoor, easing the burden on parents and ensuring children do not go hungry.
