Dear Donors,
Remember Nelson Mandela Day 2022? We fundraised hard to plant 40 fruit trees at a school in a township in South Africa and we got the children involved to learn about the envrionment and importance of tree's in the community along with recycling.
It really was a special day and we are hoping to do it again this year at at least one other school or maybe two or three depending on funding. But I am not writing to just ask for more help as I wanted to tell you how those trees are doing a year on....
Well I headed out to the school last week expecting maybe to have lost a couple but I was surprised to find every tree has taken and is survivng well even though they have had a very windy winter. The children have even spoken about the tree's they play around, sit next to and read a book. Although they not big enough yet to provide shade it's going to be a very impresive forest in the middle of the township in years to come.
I also got to speak with a couple of the children and I heard how some have convinced their families to get a tree at home too. It was so lovely to hear - thank you for making this possible!
Regards,
Tyler
