Our summer 2025 reforestation is currently underway and by the end of the month we will have planted approximately 30,757 trees on around 83 hectares with the support of 11 local communities and the participation of 750 people!
Communities participated enthusiastically and there was a positive feeling with people feeling good about conserving and restoring their forests. One of the members of community told us: “I feel very proud when I think that we are protecting the forest and helping the monarch butterfly, so that when it comes to Mexico, it can rest in a beautiful environment”
In June, the 21st generation of instructors graduated and Alternare handed them their diplomas certifying their skills. Twelve graduates are now qualified to support their own, and other communities in forest conservation. A recent graduate shared her excitement about reaching this milestone: “I’m delighted to have learned so many things, and grateful that I will be able to share this knowledge with the rest of my community as well as other communities that live close to the monarch butterfly forests.” The more we spread this knowledge, and empower the communities, the closer we’ll get to improving the forest conditions for the monarchs and the local people.
We owe all these accomplishments to your generosity, and for that we are truly grateful!
