On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the wheelchair basketball team KSS Mustang Konin played the final match of the 2024/2025 Polish Championship season. The team is formed, among others, of staff members from the PAY IT FORWARD Foundation and its independent living coaches. Some of them work daily at the Rehabilitation Centre, assisting individuals with disabilities—often those who have experienced accidents or spinal cord injuries - both in regaining mobility and independence. Sports play a vital role in the rehabilitation of people with physical disabilities, helping them rebuild strength, self-confidence, and a sense of agency.
But, let's get back to the match:
Despite their hard work, excellent preparation, and winning the match 71:66, the Mustangs did not secure the championship title. The game was filled with intense emotions and kept fans on edge until the very last minute.Throughout the match, KSS Mustang worked tirelessly to overcome a 20-point deficit from the previous game. They managed to close the gap to just one shot, but Orto-Medico Scyzory Kielce demonstrated their prowess by dominating the fourth quarter 21:9.Ultimately, although Konin won the game 71:66, Kielce clinched the Polish Championship title due to their aggregate lead.
However, we believe that the Mustangs will reclaim the cup in the next season!
