A School For Disable Children

Hello Supporters,

While we would love our children to be included in government schools in India this simply is not possible, with an overcrowded education system many children that live in poverty can't even afford a pen to attend the local school while others with mental or physcial disabilities can't be looked after in the large classes so are removed from the school.

Our school is funded by donors and as we are aware the only one in the area if not across India equipped for sturggling children, this is why we are both a primary and secondarly school offering small group classes and 1:1 care for the students that need it.

We ended the term in April for 3 months but we know that many children have nowhere to go and with disabilities many are behind other children so our teachers don’t go on holiday we carry on with a summer club, less formal and an opportunity for more creative sessions with our children - this is again funded by your donations. We opened our doors for the second term in June and our children have been busy making and selling eco-bags to the community, spending time in 1:1 sessions as well as continuing the national curriculum. Your donations funds a physiotherapist to attend our school 2 days a week, we have so many children in need of this support we would love to raise enough to make this 4 days a week but we need to secure $250 extra a month. You might remember Megha, we raised money for a leg brace for her through GlobalGiving about 4 months ago as she can’t walk. Today she is crawling and has so much more movement, you really did change her life. We are really hopeful with the physio she will begin to walk in the next 6-12 months. We recently had another 2 students come to us without wheelchairs or the correct leg braces and therefore we will begin fundraising for them too.

Our school really is special and one of a kind and we can’t do it without your support, last month we had a family reach out to us needing help with their son and they stay 3 hours away from the school in a very poor community but are looking what they can do to get to us as they want to give him the best opportunity possible.

We simply wouldn't be here if you had not shown interest and supported us and for this as the Principal Head Teacher of our School I thank you!
