Our Wildlife Team has been hard at work, conducting a fresh data analysis on the movements of Pumalín and Liquiñe. Using satellite transmitters affixed to their wings, we've been able to track their remarkable journeys. It's essential to remember that both of these condors underwent an extensive rehabilitation process before being relocated to Patagonia National Park, where they were ultimately released into their natural habitat.
Over the past three months, Pumalín and Liquiñe have ventured across an astonishing 1.3 million hectares (approximately 3.21 million acres) of land!
Since July 2023, Pumalín's movements have covered an impressive 800,000 hectares (approximately 1.98 million acres), extending as far south as San Lorenzo and encompassing some surrounding areas of the Northern Ice Field.
On the other hand, Liquiñe has embarked on a truly remarkable journey, spanning over 100 kilometers (approximately 62 miles) to the east. Her travels have taken her to the northern regions of the Pinturas River in Argentina, following her earlier intensive presence in the Fachinal-Laguna Verde and Bahía Jara areas. These updates showcase the incredible adventures and progress of these magnificent condors.
We'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our donors for their unwavering support in making these conservation efforts possible. Your contributions are making a real difference in preserving the natural wonders of Patagonia.
Thank you!
