Girls are confronted with sexual and reproductive health issues around age 17, even sometimes earlier. They are stuck in early premarital sexual activity outside of the family circle. They have no access whatsoever to information about matters of sexuality. They are vulnerable to unsafe abortion, early and unwanted pregnancy, and STDs as a result of their sexual and reproductive risk-taking. Prevention and comprehensive education are provided to them through our Reproductive Health Education.
Often, they are persuaded by male members of their community to become sexually active, as they lack access to information about sexuality and related issues, and do not communicate their feelings and thoughts about sexual acts. Many are also pressured to marry at an early age due to the fear; it ultimately hinders their ability to pursue higher education. It is affecting her full development, particularly in terms of education, economic autonomy, and physical and psychological health.
Educational and training programs specifically designed for girls before and shortly after puberty. These programs focus on their bodies, fertility cycles, and sexual rights. We conduct awareness training for this target group, establish peer groups, and share knowledge on these important topics. Parents, young women, men, boys, girls, and community members all participate in this initiative. They gain knowledge about maturation, puberty, sexuality, reproduction, and relationships.
