Project Report | Apr 16, 2021
Update April 2021

By Margaret Dean-Smith | Project Leader

Greetings,

We are hopeful that the recent drop in Eswatini’s COVID-19 numbers means that we might miss having a third wave.

Our restrictions are still quite strict but our Vaccination Programme has started slowly and we are waiting for the restrictions on Social Distancing to be eased.

Our fund-raising activities still remain very limited as no ‘gatherings’ are allowed. We are also waiting for clearance to hold rural clinics safely.

Meanwhile in our two shelters we continue with our welfare work as funds permit, and advertise our adoptable pets on Social Media. We have found good homes for 25 dogs and 21 cats in the last three months.

It feels as though we are climbing a very slow uphill path with very little good news to encourage us. Since our last communique we had to temporarily close our Mbabane shelter to the general public as we had three COVID-19 cases in our staff .  Fortunately they have all recovered well and we are again open (with restricted visitor numbers).

We are so very grateful to you for your support through this difficult time.  It is your support that has enabled us to keep our doors open and continue rescuing animals in need since the COVID Crisis started in March 2020.

If you would like to make your donation go a little farther, please consider becoming a monthly donor.  Your monthly contribution will provide us with a predictable source of income that we can rely on to better plan our core activities to save animals from pain and suffering.

Please keep sharing our story so we can reach out to more people to join our community!
