Caring for Animals Amidst Third Wave

By Margaret Dean-Smith | Project Leader

Hello again,

Sadly the 3rd wave of Covid-19 has hit Eswatini rather badly and we are going through a very tough time with the number of daily cases rising at an alarming rate and the fatalities climbing as well. Fortunately, the vaccination campaign is speeding up now.

You may have read or heard on the news that on top of all this we have had riots and looting which has been very unsettling (both in Eswatini and in our neighboring South Africa).  But we are still able to carry on our welfare work in our two shelters as funds permit, and our faithful staff and volunteers remain committed to the cause.  We are full to capacity at the moment as many people cannot afford to keep their pets.  The price of Dog Food had leapt by nearly 100% over the past 3 months which is a very frightening situation.

rural Spay/Neuter Clinic is still on our agenda before the end of the year and we are getting all our ducks in a row so that we are ready once the 3rd wave has passed and restrictions are lifted. We are ever hopeful!

Without your generous support we would not survive and ask you to consider making a ‘monthly’ donation if you are able. GlobalGiving is holding another  ‘Little by Little’campaign between 13th and 17th Septemberthey will add 50% to any donation of up to $50 during that period, so please would you consider making a donation to us while the campaign is on and take this  wonderful opportunity of enhancing your donation. https://globalgiving.org/projects/urgent-covid-19-appeal-for-animals-in-distress

We would also ask you to help us increase our donor base by sharing this information with your friends and family.

Thank you for your continued support!
