I know we just sent out an update, but I didn't want to wait to share this news!
Tuesday, Vermont Public radio aired a segment about rooster rehabilitation here at VINE during Morning Edition and again during All Things Considered. We're so excited that NPR listeners across the state heard the truth about roosters and how sterotypes about them hurt people too.
You can listen to the segment on this page, which also includes an article on the same topic. The article includes more information about the sanctuary, which the radio segment focuses more on the birds. We recommend them both, but if you only have time for one, we suggest listening, so that you can hear what radio listeners heard.
As a contributor to The Rooster Project, you have helped make this kind of public education possible!
Please keep the education going by sharing the link to the segment with anyone you know who might be interested! Just below the headline reading "A Vermont animal sanctuary proves that roosters can live peacefully after cockfighting," you will find social sharing buttons that you can use to share the good news about roosters far and wide!
We'll add this piece to the repository of articles about roosters on our website. You can find many more readings about roosters on that page, including links to two chapters (here, and here) about roosters from books that will be among those featured in our special books that mention the sanctuary edition of VINE Book Club later this month. You can learn more about that online event here and register here.
Thank you again for helping us help roosters!
