RESCUING 5 GIRLS FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING

We are writing to share an important update with you and to sincerely thank you for your support of our project “Rescuing Girls from Human Trafficking.” Thanks to your contribution, we have been able to turn commitment into action and make a real, life-changing impact.

What You Helped Make Possible

The project you supported aimed to rescue five girls from situations of sexual exploitation and provide them with a pathway to freedom, safety, and long-term rehabilitation.
We are deeply grateful to share that, as a direct result of the funds raised, six girls were successfully rescued during a recent operation—exceeding our initial goal.

The Rescue Operation

After receiving credible information about possible sexual exploitation at a spa and massage center in the Mumbai metropolitan area, Sonrisas de Bombay’s anti-trafficking team carried out a thorough investigation over the course of one week.

Once the situation was confirmed, our team coordinated closely with local authorities. The rescue operation was conducted in collaboration with senior police officials and officers from the local police station. The operation lasted approximately 16 hours, from midday until the early hours of the following day.

As a result:

• Six girls, aged between 20 and 35, were safely rescued from sexual exploitation.
• The victims were immediately transferred to a specialized shelter for protection, care, and recovery.
• Those responsible for the exploitation were detained by the authorities and legal proceedings are underway.
