This project supports women traders in Goma, DR Congo, affected by conflict and bank closures. We provide startup capital, savings groups, and hands-on training in financial management, peacebuilding, and violence prevention. Funds directly support women to restart microbusinesses, generate income, and stabilize their families in North and South Kivu.
In North and South Kivu, conflict has shut down banks and microfinance institutions, cutting off women entrepreneurs in Goma from capital. Many women-led microbusinesses collapsed overnight. Without income, families face food insecurity, school dropout, and increased exposure to violence. Women who once sustained their households are now trapped in survival mode.
We help women traders in Goma restart safely and sustainably by providing small rotating loans, community savings groups, and practical training. Women receive capital, peer support, and skills in financial management, peacebuilding, and prevention of gender-based violence. This proven approach helps women rebuild income while strengthening trust and stability in their communities.
When women entrepreneurs in Goma regain income, families eat better, children return to school, and tensions decrease. Over time, savings groups become local safety nets, women gain leadership roles, and communities grow more resilient to conflict. This project creates lasting economic independence and contributes to peace from the ground up.
