IntelliReefs first kelp restoration project has arrived at the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This will be the flagship cold water, or "temperate ecosystem" project for IntelliReefs. The aim of this large-scale artificial reef deployment in Halifax Harbour is to ascertain the efficacy and impact of Oceanite for kelp forest, oyster bed, and near-shore fisheries restoration.
to build complex fish habitat and shelter,
to attract and rapidly grow wild corals, wild kelp, seaweed and feed increaded fish species
to provide shaded areas for cryptic invertebrate communities,
to increase small-scale site biodiversity, and
adhering to strict budgetary requirements.
