A Summer of Movement, Milestones, and Momentum

By Gabriela Popescu | Project Leader

This summer, the “Rugby for All” project continued to build bridges through sport, empowering children, youth, and professionals across Romania. From grassroots tournaments to international training missions, the spirit of rugby brought communities together, nurtured talent, and celebrated achievement.

Mini Rugby Putna Tournament – Zilele Sportului Scolar

The summer kicked off with the Mini Rugby Putna Tournament, part of the “School Sports Days” celebration. Held in a scenic setting, the event welcomed 150 children from 7 different middle schools, offering them a chance to compete, collaborate, and experience the joy of rugby. The tournament was more than just a game—it was a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and school pride.

Supporting the U14 Team – CSS Gura Humorului

In preparation for the national finals in Cluj, we proudly supported the U14 rugby team of CSS Gura Humorului with essential sports equipment. This investment in 25 young athletes ensured they could compete with confidence and unity, representing their community on a national stage.

National Mini Rugby Circuit – Stage III: Trofeul Moldovei “Brândusa Andronic”

One of the summer’s highlights was the third stage of the National Mini Rugby Circuit, hosted in Moldova. Named in honor of Brândusa Andronic, the event brought together 18 teams and approximately 400 children aged 6 to 14. The atmosphere was electric, filled with cheering families, passionate coaches, and young players giving their all.

National Mini Rugby Circuit – Stage IV: Bucharest

The journey continued in Bucharest, where CSS Gura Humorului’s U12 team achieved a remarkable third place nationally. Their performance was a testament to months of hard work, dedication, and the power of community support.

Athletics Achievement – Selena Robaniuc

Beyond rugby, our commitment to youth development extended to athletics. Selena Robaniuc, a talented athlete from the CSS Gura Humorului athletics section, became vice-champion of Romania in the 10,000m race walk (U20 category) at the National Outdoor Championship finals in Craiova. Her success highlights the diverse potential of our youth and the importance of nurturing talent across disciplines.

International Training Mission – EduSport for All 2.0

In late August, 10 rugby professionals—including coaches, PE teachers, and active rugby staff—embarked on a transformative journey to Toulouse, France, as part of the EduSport for All 2.0 project. Representing six counties (Bucharest, Suceava, Vaslui, Brasov, Sibiu, and Iasi), these individuals participated in advanced training missions from August 29 to September 14, gaining new insights and techniques to bring back to their local communities.

Training Camp in Brasov – Preparing for DNS Return

Meanwhile, young athletes from the RPT program joined forces with the RCGH team in a summer training camp in Brasov. This intensive preparation aimed to gear up for the return leg of the National Senior Division (DNS) starting in September 2025. The camp fostered discipline, strategy, and camaraderie, setting the stage for a strong season ahead.

Building Futures Through Sport

From local tournaments to international missions, this summer was a season of growth, achievement, and connection. The “Rugby for All” project continues to prove that sport is not just about competition—it’s about community, opportunity, and transformation.

With over 575 children and youth engaged, and 10 professionals empowered through international collaboration, we are proud to be shaping a future where every child, regardless of background, has access to the values and opportunities that rugby brings.
