On Oct 26, our runners in the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon will kick off the Run for Mbakalo Health Clinic Campaign fundraising drive. This bold effort will transform the Level-2 clinic in SOTENI Village of Hope -Mbakalo into a certified Level 3-Health Center, delivering 24/7 essential care for 15,000 rural residents in Bungoma County, Kenya. Your support is critical.
As a Level-2 facility, it lacks a maternity ward, sufficient beds, core lab diagnostics, and reliable water/power. Other facilities are distant or overcrowded, causing risky delays and referrals. Upgrading to Level 3 will close these gaps, delivering safe, sustainable care. Families in rural Mbakalo and neighboring villages must rely on the SOTENI Village of Hope-Mbakalo clinic even at night over muddy and sometimes closed roads as their nearest 24/7 option.
This upgrade of the SVH-Mbakalo clinic to a certified Level 3 Health Center will add 15 inpatient beds, a maternity unit, lab equipment for safe deliveries and diagnostics, provide clean water and reliable power. In addition, you can see the building (in photos) is in need of repair and staff to manage new services. These upgrades will enable comprehensive, 24/7 care and long-term sustainability for over 15,000 rural residents who live in nearby villages and counties to the clinic.
A Level 3 Health Center permanently strengthens healthcare access for more than 15,000 rural people providing safe deliveries, inpatient care, emergency services and diagnostic testing locally, reducing maternal and infant deaths. SVH Mbakalo is taking a stand for healthy families, and sustainable, community-led health improvement. The seven "SOTENI Runners" participating in The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon seek your support for this bold effort. Your support is the difference.
