Breaking Chains and Bringing Hope

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Friend,

Greetings from El Shaddai and we bring to you our first report on “Rescue and empower trafficked children in Mumbai”. Under the Rena Project in Mumbai we have opened a new Home for children called the “Rena Home” which provides a secure home for all children and protection from sexual predators and traffickers.

Child trafficking is a grave violation of human rights and a form of modern slavery. It involves the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of children for the purpose of exploitation.

Presently the Rena Home has 20 children residing. Here the children are given nutritious meals, education, counselling, health checkups and are taught life skills. Every day the outreach team go to various red light and slum areas in the hope of bringing change in the lives of children.

Kamathipura, Mumbai's infamous red-light district, has long been a hub for human trafficking, including the trafficking of children. The worst affected by the red light areas are the children who mothers are into prostitution. When asked the mothers of these children what would be their one wish, their answer was the same. It was to protect their children and prevent them from being sent into the same flesh trade. Witnessing these heartbreaking moments, El Shaddai aims at restoring hope and end Child Trafficking"

We have a story of a child named Roshani (name changed) who every day had to endure the sexual harassment of strangers coming to the red light areas. Her mother used to be with the clients and there was no one she could run to. One day as she was sitting on the streets of Mumbai, the Rena outreach team reached out to this little girl and were shocked in hearing her terrible plight. They rushed her immediately to the Rena Home and admitted her. Here she was welcomed with love, warm food, clean clothing, and a hope for a secure future.

There are many such children who are just waiting for a helping hand and with your love and support we can make a significant impact in their lives.

We extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous support in aiding us in the cause of transforming children lives.

Every child deserves freedom, safety, and a chance to dream. Together, we can rescue, protect, and empower trafficked children to reclaim their future."

With Gratitude

Sincerely

El Shaddai Family
