Project Report (October 2025 - January 2026

This report provides a detailed overview of the welfare, health, education, emotional well-being, and general development of the children in the orphanage over four months, from October to January. This report aims to document progress, challenges, activities, and areas needing improvement in the care and support provided to the children.

During this period, the orphanage continued to provide shelter, nutrition, education, medical care, emotional support, and spiritual guidance to the children under its care. The staff remained committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for all residents.

The children celebrated Independence Day at school on the 2nd of October 2025 by dressing in green, white, and green, and did an endurance trek to mark the day.

The teacher’s day celebration on the 5th of October 2025 was marked by the children giving their token appreciation to honor their teachers. The children were dewormed on October 13th 2025.

Child R was in court on the 9th October 2025. The magistrate extended the care order by three months due to no information from the agency in charge of the case.

Child B and Child M were in court on the 21st October 2025. The magistrate extended their care order by three months 13th January 2026, due to no information/update from their families.

The children participated in the school spelling bee competition on 24th October 2025. Their school mid-term test started on the 27th 0ctober.

Child Mc was in court on 28th oct 2025. The mother’s younger sister showed up, and she was granted access to bond with the child for a period of time before she could be handed over to her on the 9th of December 2025.

The children’s school had its PTA meeting on the 30th of October 2025. The discussions at the meeting were about:

  1. The upcoming Christmas party
  2. Cultural day for next term
  3. Pupils' dressing code: The parents were encouraged to dress their children neatly for school with the right uniform & socks for each day, and customized socks for sale.
  4. Lateness of pupils to school was on the high side, and those who were involved are to take note
  5. We were told the children’s mid-term break will be coming up the following month, 3rd – 7th of November.
  6. The school discussed the school fees defaulters and the increase in school fees for the following term.

Jo was in court on 5th Nov 2025, but his care order was adjourned till 14th Jan 2026.

The children returned to school after mid-term break on the 10th Nov 2025. Had their school Open Day on the 13th of Nov, we were able to go through their class work & academic progress, interact with their teachers about the children’s performance & behaviors, and share suggestions for continuous improvement.

Child M's Career Day at her school was on 14th Nov 2025. She was part of the musician team; she dressed like a musician and performed well with her team. It was fun.

The social worker, a caregiver, and five children were at the Orphans Day Celebration, which was held at another registered orphanage in Lagos on the 15th Nov 2025. Children from other homes were at the event; there were side attractions like dancing competitions, games, and exhibitions of handmade items by the children. The winners of each competition were rewarded.

The 1st term examination started on the 25th of Nov 2025, and they had their school parties on the 15th & 17th of December 2025.

December was a joyful month filled with celebrations and community involvement.

Key activities included:

  • Christmas party for the children in the home on the 16th Dec 2025
  • Gift distribution (clothes & food items)
  • Visits from donors and well-wishers
  • School Christmas party on the 17th Dec 2025.

The children were extremely happy and grateful.

Their schools went on break after the school party on 17th December 2025. Since schools were on holiday, the orphanage organized learning and fun activities, including:

  • Reading time
  • Outdoor games

In January, children resumed school after the Christmas holidays on 16th Jan 2026

  • New school supplies were provided
  • Transportation arrangements were made
  • Daily academic monitoring continued  

In October, all children underwent routine health checks. Minor illnesses such as colds and fever were treated promptly. No major medical emergencies were recorded during this month.

  • Regular bathing and hygiene practices were maintained
  • Children received balanced meals three times daily and 2 in between snacks.
  • Vitamin supplements were administered as required.
  • Regular cleaning of dormitories
  • Personal hygiene training for children
  • Immunization for measles and Hpv Vaccine for the children on the 29th Jan 2026.
  • Education and Learning
  • Daily homework supervision was conducted
  • Reading and literacy classes were held in the orphanage
  • Children showed improvement in reading and writing

 

  • Emotional and Social Development

The children participated in group discussions and recreational activities to build confidence and social skills.

Activities included:

  • Storytelling sessions
  • Singing and dancing
  • Indoor games

The children appeared happy and well-adjusted back to school.
