We just held our annual event, one of our largest fundraising efforts of the year, and I'm thrilled to report that it was a great success! Thanks to generous supporters near and far, we were able to raise enough money to fund 24 new taps in rural villages in Mali. These taps will serve roughly 12,000 people, most of them children.
As soon as a tapstand is opened, everything in the village changes. Overnight, women and girls are relieved of the burden of spending hours every day walking for water. This means that women are free to pursue income-generating work, and girls are able to spend their days learning at school. Most significantly, the entire village instantly gets access to an abundant supply of clean, safe water. Thanks to the solar-powered, mechanized system, the water does not need to be laboriously pumped up from underground aquifers, it flows out with the simple turn of the tap. This ensures that the water can be easily accessed by everyone in the village.
Thank you, as always, for your generosity, which makes it possible for Wells Bring Hope to save lives with safe water.
