Namaste, Dear Readers,
Wishing you and your families a joyful and peaceful Diwali from all of us at SAFI!
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a time for gratitude and hope. And thanks to your continued support, we were able to celebrate this festive season not only with our beloved animals but with our onsite shelter staff who live on-site year-round.
As the lights of Diwali shine, we’re working hard to bring light into the lives of thousands of street animals through spay/neuter surgeries, medical care, and compassion.
Q3 Sterilization Highlights: Progress You Made Possible
This year, we’ve made incredible strides in expanding our spay/neuter program:
Built 32 new kennels — these can now accommodate 180 additional dogs each month, allowing us to ramp up surgeries.
Expanded our clinic with a fully equipped operating theater, upgraded surgery tables, LED lights, and a new anesthesia machine.
We performed 129 sterilizations this quarter:
July: 50
August: 45
September: 34
We’re getting so close to our goal of 200 sterilizations per month—but we’re missing a few key pieces to make that leap.
What’s Holding Us Back?
To effectively reach 200 spay/neuter surgeries each month, we urgently need:
A second ambulance, customized with kennels
A veterinary technician
Dog catchers and a driver
Monthly fuel and transport costs
More sutures, anesthesia, and medicines
We’ve built the infrastructure, now we need the people and resources to operate it fully.
Goal: Raise $1,000 per month to cover these recurring costs.
Will you be one of the 10 donors giving $100/month, or 50 donors giving $20/month?
Why This Matters
India is home to 62 million stray dogs. The public increasingly sees them as a threat—leading to abuse, neglect, mass culling, and community fear around rabies and bites.
Spay/Neuter is the solution. It’s humane, effective, and the only long-term way to control the stray population.
When you donate to this project, you’re not just helping a dog or cat—you’re:
Preventing thousands of unwanted births
Reducing community fear and violence
Giving animals a chance to live without pain or cruelty
Diwali Feast for Furries 2025
Thanks to your generosity, we also hosted our annual Diwali Feast:
Extra chicken for our dogs
Fresh fruit & veggies for our cows and goats
Street animals across the city were fed
Our on-site staff enjoyed a traditional Diwali meal, shelter decorations, and festive diyas
