In the classrooms across our partner Community Groups, there's a quiet struggle happening, one that many girls are too ashamed to speak about, yet one that determines whether they stay in school or fall behind. It isn't a lack of intelligence. It isn't a lack of motivation. It's a lack of something as basic as a Sanitary Napkin. We are determined to change the course of history for these girls, with your help!
Imagine a young girl missing school for a week every month-not because she's sick, but because she doesn't have access to a basic necessity: Sanitary Napkin. This is the sad situation across our Community Groups in Western Kenya.
Our goal is to supply Sanitary Napkins to every girl in our Community Groups for the duration of their time in school. Too often these girls are at a disadvantage to learn, simply because they lack the basic need of a Sanitary Napkin. Together we can fix this simply problem through your donation. Imagine, one small packet giving a girl the freedom to sit confidently in her classroom, to raise her hand without fear, to feel like she belongs.
One of our Community Group leaders told us about a girl who usually misses three to five days of class every month. She would fall behind in her lessons, feel embarrassed returning to school, and worry that she'd never catch up. This project will assist in helping girls like her maintain their dignity and not have to sacrifice their education. And when this girl was asked how she felt after receiving a sanitary napkin during her cycle, she smiled and said, "I didn't have to be afraid anymore."
