Progress and Hope in Pasacuach

Pasacuach Cocode meeting with Fodes
Pasacuach Cocode meeting with Fodes

Over the past months, the community of Pasacuach has continued making remarkable strides toward building a better future. Despite facing significant challenges in their quest for essential infrastructure, their resilience, teamwork, and determination shine through. Together with the support of organizations like the Asociación de Mujeres del Altiplano and FODES, the community is building momentum toward their shared goal of a drainage system that will improve health, hygiene, and dignity for all.

Key Achievements this Quarter

  • Community Leadership and Advocacy
The local leadership team, known as the COCODE, has remained deeply engaged and committed to advancing the drainage project. They met with officials from FODES to review and improve the technical documentation required for project approval. Their eagerness to adapt and learn new processes has been instrumental, as each step helps bring the project closer to reality.
  • Collaboration and Coordination
A coordinated meeting with senior FODES officials resulted in clear guidance on the next steps for securing the necessary SNIP project approval code. This meeting also emphasized the importance of addressing long-term community needs, like population growth, in the system's design.
  • Commitment to Sustainability
Actively involving all seven members of the leadership team in turn-taking governance has led not just to greater transparency but to stronger community ownership of the process. The community also continues to pool resources for transportation and other costs related to advocacy efforts, demonstrating a steadfast commitment that inspires progress.

Challenges Faced

While progress has been steady, challenges remain. The drainage project's blueprints must be updated to align with technical requirements, including provisions for population growth. Likewise, additional studies for a separate potable water project require further coordination and resources. These modifications are crucial for the project’s approval and long-term success.

Next Steps

Work is now focused on finalizing the required technical updates and resubmitting documentation to FODES within the coming months. Meetings with municipal authorities have also been planned to ensure alignment and support at all levels. With each step, this resilient community comes closer to achieving its goal.

The COCODE, alongside their institutional partners, remains optimistic. While the process is lengthy, they know that fulfilling the technical and administrative requirements will open the door to funding opportunities. These funds will have a profound impact on the health and well-being of the entire community.

Gratitude and Call to Action

Every victory in this process is a testament to the strength and unity of the Pasacuach community and their allies. Their determination, even in the face of obstacles, is both humbling and inspiring. The Asociación de Mujeres del Altiplano has provided invaluable support, but none of this would be possible without the contributions from generous supporters like you.

We hope you continue to stand with us in this critical campaign. Your support is not just an investment in infrastructure but in the health, dignity, and empowerment of a community that embodies resilience and hope.

Together, we can bring this project to life. Every donation helps us bring one step closer to providing safe, modern sanitation for Pasacuach. Please consider renewing your support for this vital cause today.

Thank you for being an essential part of this transformative journey!
