It's a little update from Zimbabwe

The environment for the children in our care has seen significant shifts lately. Since our last update, we have focused on stabilizing the daily routine to ensure that every child feels secure, nourished, and supported. These children have been through trauma that no one should ever face, and the most important tool we have is consistency.

We have been working hard to maintain the supply of essentials, from balanced nutrition to the therapeutic resources that are vital for healing. The demand for these resources is constant, and as we look at the coming months, we are mindful of the need to keep this safe haven fully operational and well-stocked.

The upcoming Little by Little campaign from March 17th to the 20th is a crucial opportunity for us to secure the funds that keep our doors open. Because GlobalGiving matches donations up to 50 dollars at a rate of 50 percent, your gift during those four days goes significantly further in protecting these children.

Your 50 dollar contribution becomes 75 dollars.
That increase ensures we can provide more nutritious meals and educational supplies for those in our care.

We wanted to send you a quick, heartfelt note to show you exactly how your generosity is transforming lives here at our safe house. For children who have experienced profound trauma, we don’t just offer a place to sleep—we’ve created a specialized home where healing can finally begin, right alongside their education in our on-site school. This incredible, holistic approach to recovery is possible because it’s 100% funded by you!

Imagine the pure, quiet joy in a child’s eyes when they meet our therapy horses, or the breakthrough moments a young person experiences with a dedicated play therapist or child trauma counselor. Because specialized support is non-existent from government services here in Zimbabwe, your donations have allowed us to bring these professionals straight to the children, accelerating their healing process. We’re already seeing wonderful early results and engagement, proving that these unique therapies—which include horse therapy, play therapy, and trauma counseling—are truly life-changing. We’re working hard to ensure we can keep funding these critical programs for every child who needs them.

We also have a monumental piece of news to share from our Documentation Drive! You know that for too many children, especially girls, the simple lack of a birth certificate denies them access to education, healthcare, and future independence. It's a fundamental injustice. Well, thanks to your dedicated support, we are proud to announce that we have registered just over 4,000 children to date! Four thousand children now officially have their own identity, opening doors that were previously bolted shut. It costs us just $15.50 per child to cover the transport and chaperone needed for those vital trips to the city to secure their documents. Every donation of this is literally a child’s future being handed back to them.

Project Update from Our Children in Zimbabwe

Hello Supporters, Fundraisers & Friends of Action Change!

Since our update in March, we've sustained momentum in providing safe shelter, education, and counseling to vulnerable children. The private-school initiative—Zimbabwe’s first of its kind—continues to recruit and support children from the most vulnerable circumstances. Our team has reached deeper into the community, ensuring more children receive critical identity documents like birth certificates, which was a key milestone outlined in the previous report.

With a steady flow of donations over the past 3 months we decided to focus on putting your amazing donations to work on:

Safety & Shelter: We expanded capacity in our safe house, housing 4 additional children referred by social services

Education: Newly enrolled students have settled into classes, and our staff are closely monitoring attendance and performance.

Birth Certificates & Documentation: The initiative to deliver legal identity documents continues. We’ve helped 19 children acquire certificates, opening doors for school enrollment and access to healthcare.

We are hoping that donations will increase a little more over the next 3-6 months as we have over 5,000 children currently unregistered. Registration is free but it costs us around $10 USD per chid in trnasport and a chaperon to take the child to the city to register them and complete the paperwork to get their first official ID. It's not an expensive program but we have so many children in need that it is going to take time and money but the impact is life changing as soon as they get their ID they can enroll in a Government school and access health care, although it's not the best in the world it is better than nothing!!

As well as this we are really hoping to devlop:

Life Skills Workshops: Launching weekly workshops focused on self-esteem, rights education, and vocational awareness for our older children (ages 12–18).
School Collaboration: Formalizing partnerships with at least two local schools to include safety, hygiene, and emotional well-being modules.
Infrastructure Upgrade: Planning to enhance living quarters at the safe house—upgrading sleeping areas and installing a small library/study space.

Your generous contributions have ensured that every child in our program has been given the best chance at healing, learning, and hopeand we are not stoopping here.
