This quarter November to January, 2026 is the winter season in Nepal. The flood affected victim families have demanded and interest for long run income generation opportunities. For this baseline assessment have been carried out by MRC Nepal for the possible income generation opportunity. Based on finding, technical feasibility and interest of the farmer, off season winter vegetable production technology is the best option for increasing income and better livelihood of the victim families. There is no other better option as the vegetable gives good income in shortest period time.
In this regards, MRC Nepal supported seed of vegetable which are market potential. Along with this MRC Nepal supported production materials, domestic pesticide preparation technology for organic vegetable production, capacity building training and technical backstopping support. As a result the victim families are able to produce vegetable and sell in the market. They receive good income average NRs 45,000 from 336 sqm of land. They are very happy with this income. Not only selling vegetable but also they consumed organic fresh vegetable meeting kitchen requirement. They are able to improve health status by consuming protein and mineral rich vegetable.
At the end they thanked to GlobalGiving and MRC Nepal for getting such genuine long term support.
