SAFI 2025 Q3 Report – Diwali Edition
Namaste, Dear Readers,
Wishing you all a very joyful Diwali from the SAFI family!
Often called the Festival of Lights, Diwali is India’s most cherished celebration—think Christmas and New Year rolled into one! And just like every year, we’re extending the celebrations to those who need the light most—our animals and our shelter team.
Diwali Feast for Furries 2025
Thanks to your continued support, we hosted our annual Diwali Feast:
Extra servings of chicken for our dogs
Fresh fruits and vegetables for our cows and goats
Street animals fed across our neighborhoods
Our 10 shelter staff—who live on-site year-round—were treated to a traditional meal, festive decorations, and diyas to light up their living quarters.

Cruelty Prevention: A Landmark Quarter
This quarter, our cruelty investigation team made historic progress. During the Beerappa Festival in Telangana, we uncovered and documented shocking acts of brutality, including live goat killings and skinning in temple rituals.
7 First Information Reports (FIRs) filed
3 Public Legal Campaigns (PLCs) launched for awareness
Legal actions taken across multiple jurisdictions
This is a major step forward in ending barbaric animal sacrifices masked as tradition. We also worked on:
Pet abandonment and abuse cases
Illegal wildlife trade reports
Mass stray dog poisoning and beatings
Dairy farm neglect and cruelty cases
Among our intakes this quarter, Tom’s case brought tears to our eyes.
Tom the Pomeranian, who was dumped outside our shelter, paralyzed, broke our hearts. Despite all efforts, we couldn’t save him. His story fuels our determination.
Clinic Expansion: From Vision to Vitality
Thanks to your donations, our newly expanded clinic and operating theater is now active. We have more room, more kennels, and better equipment—but we’re still missing critical tools that could mean the difference between life and death.
2026 Wishlist: Your Chance to Be a Lifesaver
As we prepare for 2026, I’d love to share our Wishlist with you - a carefully planned list of one-time and monthly equipment and care needs, designed to expand our shelter’s capacity and improve medical treatment.
Every day, we face emergencies with animals with fractures, bleeding, dehydrated, or fighting infections. Right now, we’re treating animals without the right equipment.
Rescues are delayed. Diagnoses missed. Lives lost.
With a Blood Transfusion Kit and an X-ray machine, we could save so many of them. These are just 2 of the many urgent needs on our 2026 Wishlist. Thanks to our generous supporters, a few items have been sponsored! Scan the QR code to check out the latest list.
Will you help us give $800 to every stray the second chance they deserve?
A number of these items come with the opportunity to feature your name (or your business name) directly on the item or be honored inside our clinic.
