The Maruki Gallery entered a long-term closure on September 28, 2025 for a full-scale renovation.
All artworks have been removed from the exhibition rooms, and office materials have been relocated to a temporary workspace.
To pass The Hiroshima Panels on to future generations, the renovation will focus on the following areas:
1. Improving exhibition spaces and artwork viewing conditions
2. Installing a new storage facility for the collection
3. Implementing measures to prevent future leaks and water damage
4. Reinforcing the building extensions added in 1983
5. Upgrading and expanding HVAC and other mechanical systems
6. Restoring the collapsed southern embarkment
We will continue to share updates on our renovation progress.
The gallery is scheduled to reopen around May 5, 2027, which marks the 60th anniversary of its founding.
During the closure, we will continue our activities, including domestic and international exhibitions, lending reproduction panels, and holding outreach lectures.
Thank you for your continued support!
