This quarter July to October, 2025 is the rainy season in Nepal. The victim families suffer flooding due to heavy rain in this period so that for any agricultural activities many challenge may occur. However, the affected victim families have demanded and interest for long run income generation opportunities. For this baseline assessment have been carried out by MRC Nepal for the possible income generation opportunity. Based on finding, technical feasibility and interest of the farmer, off season vegetable production technology is the best option for increasing income and better livelihood of the victim families. There is no other better option as the vegetable gives good income in shortest period of time. The affected families lead by women farmers and powered by women for skill tranfer and technologies.
In this regards, MRC Nepal supported seed of vegetable which are market potential. Along with this MRC Nepal support production materials, domestic pesticide preparation technology for organic vegetable production, capacity building training and technical backstopping support. As a result the victim families are able to produce vegetable and sell in the market. . Not only selling vegetable but also they consumed organic fresh vegetable meeting kitchen requirement. They are able to improve health status by consuming protein and mineral rich vegetable. Not only these but also create local employment, peace building at household level and social harmony in the society.
