Dear Friends,
The Nyalenda community within Kisumu town has faced persistent challenges due to to perennial flooding. These floods have caused widespread damage, displacing families and destroying homes, particularly affecting the most vulnerable members of the community.
In response to this ongoing crisis, the James Were Foundation embarked on ambitious goal of constructing 50 flood resilient houses for the most affected families, as outlined in our strategic plan. To date, we have successfully completed 20 houses, including three houses built this year specifically for the vulnerable women who were severely impacted by past floods.
while this year has seen fewer cases of displacent, thanks to the government intervention such as de siltation of rivers and construction of gabions, many previous victims remain without permanent shelter. Our efforts are now focused on addressing these lingering cases.
we are actively appealing to friends for more partnerships to enable us mobilize additional resources to help us achieve our target of 50 homes. The progress made so far is a testament to the resilience of the Nyalenda community and the support of our partners, but much more remains to be done.
We invite more well wishers, organizations and government agencies to join us this noble mission to restore dignity and hope to flood affected families in Nyalenda Kisumu Kenya.
Gid bless you.
