Everilda Escobar’s story is an extraordinary testament to what happens when local talent is given a real opportunity. She is the eldest daughter in a family of five siblings and comes from a home where neither her parents nor grandparents had access to formal education. Despite this, from a very young age she developed a deep desire to honor her family’s hard work and uplift their name. She grew up dreaming of working in an office and becoming a professional, even though she understood that her family’s economic situation would not allow her to afford higher education.

Aware of this reality, Everilda made the decision to pursue opportunities on her own. She began seeking scholarships early on, convinced that education would be the path to transform her life and her family’s future. Her dream of studying Business Administration seemed distant especially because the program did not exist in her hometown of Chajul. For five years, she had to travel constantly to continue her studies.

Her determination paid off in 2019 when Filantropis recognized her potential and awarded her a comprehensive scholarship. This support combining mentoring, guidance, and financial assistance allowed her to focus fully on her academic and personal growth. As a result, Everilda became a historic role model in her community: she is the first woman in her family, on both her mother’s and father’s side, to attend university. Her family sees her as a source of pride and a living example that dreams do come true when pursued with discipline and perseverance.

The impact of this educational investment is evident. In 2025, Everilda celebrated two monumental milestones:

• Graduated as a Technician in Business Administration, marking a solid step toward her professional stability.
  
  
• On the verge of completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration: with her coursework fully completed, she is only one step away from earning her second and highest academic degree; she now only awaits her final evaluations.
  
  

These achievements are far more than diplomas; they represent years of effort, sacrifice, and a powerful desire to transform her life and the lives of those around her.

Today, Everilda is not only a former scholarship recipient, she is a key member of the Filantropis team. In her role, she:
