SEND A CHILD TO SCHOOL

Having all our high school children in one place has helped us coordinate their remedial classes. But this has paused a new dilemma. The need for a dedicated and affordable transport service to take the children and from school.

EDUCATION and SPONSORSHIP

In a third world setting like ours, education is a key area for self-reliance and emancipation.

Through our Social work office children in really desperate situations are afforded an opportunity to use education as an outlet to literacy and self-reliance.

Education is not a free service. And sending the children to cheap and poorly run schools has proved a costly exercise.

To avoid wasting resources we decided to work with a school whose running we are well versed with and a school that understands the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children.

All our high school children are now enrolled at Westway College.

Weekly progress reports are being produced, and it helps us see how we can assist the children in their difficult home settings.

Sending them to a good all round school has come with an added cost of transport.

The returns are there for all to see but to  get good results and good kids progress we now have to bear an extra cost, transport.

We are grateful for the support we have been getting to enable us to keep the children in school. And we continue to crave for your help and involvement in making this program a success and something that can help 100s of children in the future.

We will continue to work on our model to make it cost effective but an effective learning centre for the children.

. It is our hope to find sponsors that will assist by partnering with Harvesters in Sport Trust (HIS) through adopting a child so that every child is afforded the basic necessity and opportunity in life.

As highlighted in the previous report having agricultural projects can help us mitigate against the high deficits as we continue to work on helping as many children to get a basic education and perhaps give each a pathway to future success.

The primary school children are all attending classes, an improvement from last year when a lot used to absent themselves.

The first term has been a great success. The second term has just begun. We need to find new money to get second term fees sorted out for both primary and high school.

.

MOBILE LIBRARY

The mobile library needs new books. Textbooks and the like to help cater for the growing interest among children. A reading culture is a must and is a winner. The children are developing a keen interest in reading. This is shaping how they use their free time.

CONCLUSION

Seeing children improving in their classwork and general life has been a delight. We, however, need consistent funding to continue to enjoy the results.
