SENDING A CHILD TO SCHOOL

It’s a new school year, and our program continues to grow in leaps and bounds. A few are graduating from primary school into high school, while a few are moving from kindergarten into actual primary school. We are excited for them.

Last year, we saw an improved commitment to school. Homework assignments were being done. Absenteeism was at a minimum.

We hope to find sponsors that will assist by partnering with Harvesters in Sport Trust (HIS) through adopting a child, so that every child is afforded the necessities and opportunities in life. $350 per term will adopt a child. We have 10 on our high school books and need $3500 per term for school fees.

We then need means to transport them to school and back. That’s $60 per month per child, translating to nearly $2000 per term for all of them.

Having a minibus of our own would be a big saving! Plus, the vehicle can carry out many other functions

As highlighted in the previous report, having agricultural projects can help us mitigate against the high deficits as we continue to work on helping as many children as possible to get a basic education and perhaps give each a pathway to future success.

I am pleased to announce that we have found a partner to help us get an agricultural program up and running.

We have planted maize and will plant beans at the end of January. Harvests will keep the feeding program afloat, and extras get sold to support the Send a Child to School campaign.

The primary school children are all attending classes, an improvement from last year when a lot used to be absent.

CONCLUSION

The need for improved and consistent funding continues to ring loud. We will continue to do all we can to keep making a difference.
