In July 2024 during the summer school break, FPVI conducted on a pilot run a 2-week intensive reading intervention program for grades 5 and 6 students at one of the barangay (village) schools in Tunga, Leyte. A renowned literacy program expert provided training to the nine FPVI students and one volunteer who served as Reading Mentors to the 24 participants. The Program yielded very positive and encouraging results, including requests from school and town officials to offer it in other barangay schools.
This ebooklet provides both context and images from the actvities covered during the two weeks. FPVI may replicate the Program in another barangay school next summer.
