Aylito, 38 years old, has 8 children and manages her family while working at home on the land and collecting fire wood daily. Due to injury as a child, she has been blind in one eye since the age of 6.
Trichiasis—a painful eye condition—threatened Aylito's sight in her other unblind eye. Unaware of the available treatment options, Aylito lived with the impending possibility of losing her eyesight completely in both eyes and with the fear of not being able to take care of her family.
Through Orbis’ eye health outreach programs in Ethiopia, Aylito received necessary TT (Trachomatous Trichiasis) surgery and was operated on by IECW (Integrated Eye Care Worker) Zinabu Kedane Mariam.
Aylito was finally able to take the necessary steps to transform her life - one in which she can confidently support herself and her family.
Thank you for supporting and enabling our sight saving surgeries - your support is making a real difference to real lives.
