Developing talents to bring income and hope in women

One of the most valuable strategies in fighting extreme poverty is teaching people skills so they can learn to provide for themselves

The Women and young girls of the area are illiterate, poor and vulnerable doing house hold work in nearby house .where they get low salaries and are also  face difficult situations and are not provided with the proper care  and are always at the risk of physical and sexual abuse. Young girls may not be able to go to school due to poverty.

Lack of empowerment for women in a male dominated society and living in poverty stricken conditions are well documented areas of concern in most regions of Pakistan.  Association fir Humanitarian Development (AHD)   believes that knowledge and skills that can be practically used are key steps towards improvement and empowerment of women in their local community where such conditions exist.  

In all of our work, we target the poorest and most vulnerable people. We place a special emphasis on women in our vocational training programs, which are treated unequally and also are expected to support their families.

AHD has established two sewing centre in Latifabad No: 4 enrolled 17 girls and in Latifabad No: 5 enrolled 20 girls. In each centre we have one qualified sewing teacher. The sewing centre was started in May 2012. The course will be for six month

Our Sewing Centre programs are carefully matched with the needs of the community where we work to ensure women and girls are able to use their skills and get a job after completion. Through this project women and young girls from poor families will be trained & skilled in order to secure their future.

Sewing Centre offers classes in sewing and tailoring and embroidery so women can make clothing, earning an income and providing second help-line in generating income for their families.

After training, 37, girls after completing the course will be given sewing machines and will be able to earn income. The poor communities will be able to save their income and earn at their household level.

Achievement:

• In both the centre regular classes are taken after each month the supervisor take test in both the centre.
• Supervisor regularly visit centre and monitor the work
• Girls at sewing centre are able to stitch clothes and improving in embroidery work.

Future objectives:

• Arrange Beautician course
• Basic education for illiterate girls.
• Help drop-out  girls to complete education,
• Organize courses on Flower making & hand made Jewelry 
•  Making show piece.
• Candle making

 Requirements:

• 10 Sewing machines for each centre
• Material for making jewelries
• Material for candle making

 Visitors:

• President / CEO paid visit with senior management.
• Miss Tahira Admin Officer and Miss Sareena Account Officer.
