Sept 12th, The start of a New School Year

By Marianella Paul | Director Autismo en Voz Alta

Dear Donors,

THANKS to all of you, on Sept 12th, 102 children started a new school year. All our students are receiving partial financial support, and 73 of them are receiving additional scholarships. We cannot express enough our gratitude.

We started the year with a newly designed digital induction program for teachers, individual educational programs for all our children, and a reviewed and strengthened audit and intervention process. In addition, we increased salaries at a competitive level, provided scholarships to all that requested it, and during the summer did all maintenance to our facilities.

However, due to the humanitarian crisis Venezuela is facing, this will be an exceptionally challenging school year. Creativity, your solidarity and significant commitment will be necessary to maintain our program running.

Food and medicines are scarce, and Venezuelans families are struggling to meet their children basic needs. Living conditions have significantly deteriorated during the summer due to increased insecurity and political turmoil, and galloping hyperinflation.

Recent surveys indicate that today only 40% of Venezuelans are able to eat three times a day. Basic services such as public transportation, electricity, and water are not available on a regular basis. Malaria and other diseases are spreading due to the lack of medicines and programs to fight against them.

Despite this challenge, our children, teachers and management are everyday giving their best to improve and maintain the education we provide, and our kids continue to improve. We are committed to doing our best to support them, and are designing for this school year programs to consolidate the institutional know how as well as help them meet their basic needs.

Autism is a daily labor of love. Together is possible, step by step, to overcome challenges, and continue creating opportunities.

Thank you for being part of AUTISMO EN VOZ ALTA

We truly hope that you are as excited as we are in our efforts. Your support makes it possible. You are our families best hope for this program to continue.
