I’m sending my heartfelt thanks to you, and to everyone who makes our shared work possible. Your generosity is helping the slum children get good quality education.At El Shaddai, we believe that Education is an integral part of the community, therefore we work towards empowering children and families, equip through education, and end cycles of poverty.
Due to the increasing cases of COVID-19, the pandemic was a long battle that they had to deal with. However, keeping the children motivated and in high spirits was equally important. On the 12th of August, we started slum school in naikavaddo with 16 students, followed by Dongerpur slum with 22 children, Agarvaddo slum with 27 children and Mapusa Street with 30 children. We started off with educating them about safety measures like wearing masks, social distancing, and washing hands from time to time and still continue to teach about safety measures. Our trained teachers have taken the initiative to provide education at their doorstep, teaching them Alphabet, numbers, Moral story, and Rhymes, conducting activities and games. Parents and children are happy to have this slum school class since they don’t have to worry about their children’s education during covid-19.
2020 has been a rough and challenging year—but in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, political instability, and more challenges, we’ve been humbled to witness your memorable generosity. To tell you the truth we can’t stop thanking you for all that you’ve done to help numerous communities throughout the year.
