We are truly grateful to all our donors, sponsors and supporters who remain committed to supporting us through this difficult times. We are happy to present the report on Education for 1000 slum children in Goa.
Achievement and motivation is really an important element of aspiration, efforts, and determination. “Education” is playing a vital role in our day to day life, which implies each child should have right to learn and achieve their successful future and for this El Shaddai Charitable Trust has stepped forward with several shelters, outreach staff workers, community centres where the children have no access to education, food or shelter.
“Education is all about widening our knowledge and absorbing the truth about life," taking this into consideration El Shaddai Charitable Trust managed to conduct slum schools in Goa and provided education for more than 1000 children. Currently, El Shaddai is running 24 Slum schools in Goa namely in Vasco, Margao, Calangute and Panjim. Children visit our shelters also where each child is brought up to read and write where they are lacking the learning confidence.
Some children are also enrolled in Formal Schools for further education. We firmly believe the main agenda for the children should be “goal orientated” rather than “certificate oriented” and providing them with school facilities like uniforms, school shoes, books, stationary, ration kit etc.
The children in the slums are taught numbers, letters, alphabets, yoga class and extra co-curricular activities. Outreach workers also distribute monthly ration, hygiene kits and cooked meals daily for the students with their families in slums. The outreach workers also conduct awareness programs for slum children and their families. Recently we organised a campaign where people from slums and children were vaccinated.
