Dear Patron,
Education plays a crucial role in the lives of slum dwellers. It can promote economic, moral, and intellectual development, benefiting both individuals and the community as a whole. Access to quality education can help slum children break the cycle of poverty, pursue better careers, and support their families. Slum education in India is a significant challenge that affects many children living in impoverished areas. These children often face barriers to accessing quality education due to various factors such as the lack of good schools, financial constraints, and unqualified teachers.
Education being a powerful tool, El Shaddai opened Slum schooling at Daycare shelters, community centres and slum areas. Many times the children are unable to come to schools to obtain education. Keeping such situations in mind El Shaddai decided to take the schools to these children. Our teachers and outreach workers help in educating 900 + children so that they can change their course of life to a better one.
We also distribute educational kits to children from the slums like bags, stationaries, tiffins and water bottles. We have a story of a child named Manav (name changed). His story of getting an education showcases the resilience and determination of individuals in challenging circumstances. He was brought up in a small village on the outskirts of Jharkhand. He was always bullied and criticised since he came from a low caste. His parents did some odd jobs in everyone’s homes but it wasn’t enough to look after a family of eight. They decided to try their luck in the state of Goa. But here too misfortune followed and they ended up living in poor pathetic conditions and many times they used to go to sleep on an empty stomach.
One day a team of the El Shaddai outreach workers arrived at their place and set up a slum school. This boy was the happiest of all. He was so eager to learn and explore the world of education. Seeing his zest and enthusiasm the outreach workers enrolled him in the El Shaddai non formal school and from there on there was no turning back. He finished his 10th grade and took up a job at one of the leading hotels in Goa. This proves that Education can have a big impact on anyone’s life, no matter where he or she comes from.
Many such children just need the right direction and this is possible for us only with the love and support of generous supporters and well-wishers like you.
We take this time to express our heartfelt gratitude for your wonderful support in aiding us in our mission to change children lives.
With gratitude,
Sincerely
El Shaddai family
