Build a small group home for orphans in Ukraine

Our contractors returned to the building site and made significant progress in February before returning to their base of operations in Central Ukraine. Since the last update they completed the foundation, then the wooden frame on the foundation. They left the site with Blossom Cottage almost entirely framed (lacking only a few interior walls), they also sheathed the exterior with OSB and a vapor barrier, setting the stae for the next stage.

As of today (March 17) the team has returned and will spend about three weeks completing the warm shell, that is, they will complete interior framing, install windows and exterior doors, and complete the metal roof and exterior siding. We are excited about this next phase of construction.

We are also thankful for donations. We still need to raise almost $100,000 to complete the interior and infrastructure improvements.

Just a quick update. Our crew from STUD Frame Homes completed the concrete foundation for Blossom Cottage this week. It will need a few weeks to cure to a point where they can resume work. While there they also added a gate to our fence, completed the installation of the septic system and used their earth moving equipment to cut a rough road on the edge of the property. While they were doing all that, the village has been improving some of the nearby access roads. They haven't reached our property yet, but if they don't we will lobby them sometime after New Year to do so.

We expect STUD Frame Homes to return in two weeks with a couple of large truckloads of prefabricated wooden frames, doors windows, roof trusses, metal roof, and siding. They have indicated that the warm shell will be complete before the end of the year. Stay tuned!
