The SOLEro Movement: Learning in Motion

By Isabel Tafur | Arquitecta de futuros

Shared sunsets that connected us
Shared sunsets that connected us

Dear friend,

The spark we ignited in more than 40 communities is still alive and today, it is transforming into a movement. At SOLE Colombia, we are weaving something that goes beyond: we are bringing to life the SOLEro Movement, a living network of people, communities, and territories that share the same energy: curiosity, conversation, and the desire to learn together.

The movement was born from a simple yet powerful question: What happens when people connect to learn and change the world one Big Question at a time? From there, we began to imagine how to sustain the energy of the SOLE community, how to keep it alive, close, and in motion. We set out to create a space where everyone can recognize themselves as part of something greater: a community that talks, creates, plays, experiments, and transforms.

Over the past few months, we have designed and tested new ways of connecting. Through WhatsApp, social media, and collaborative platforms like Loomio, we have begun building the channels of the movement. On Mondays, we open light conversations to “move our mood,” on Wednesdays we explore tastes and habits, and on Fridays we let music connect us: salsa or merengue, coffee or herbal tea, night owls or early birds, dancing or singing. Small questions that open big connections, because behind each answer there’s a smile, a coincidence, or a shared story.

As the conversations grow, so does trust. In July and August, we began inviting the community to SOLE together via WhatsApp, relaunching learning capsules with new dynamics. Each week, a Big Question is posed: for example, Is this true? or Why do we feel fear?, and the community investigates, sends audios, shares discoveries, and reflects on what they’ve learned. In one of these virtual encounters, a spontaneous and beautiful moment emerged: community members began sharing photos of the sunsets they were seeing at that very instant, sparking a deep conversation that connected us beyond the screens. These activities have strengthened autonomy, critical thinking, and creativity, allowing more voices to join and be heard.

The movement has also brought new games and ways of connecting. In September, we launched the “Secret SOLEro Friend” (like the Secret Santa but in September) an experience that combined humor, affection, and technology. Through messages, memes, songs, and shared learnings, participants “sweetened” each other from anonymity, showing that care and complicity can also flow through the Internet. The result was a whirlwind of laughter, creativity, and tenderness that brought the community even closer together.

The SOLEro Movement is emerging organically, from conversation and experimentation. It has no hierarchies or fixed centers; it moves through vibration, affinity, and the shared desire to keep learning together. It is a community unafraid of doubt, open to play, and connected through fearless questioning recognizing that within every question lies the potential to transform the world.

Every message, every audio, every shared laugh in the WhatsApp groups is a small spark of this growing movement. And even though we’re still taking our first steps, we know that what we’re building is an example of how technology can be used not to divide us, but to bring us closer, to listen, and to create together the future we want.

Thank you for continuing to be part of this spark.

Your support makes it possible for this movement to keep growing, connecting communities that learn, transform, and keep asking questions together.

With gratitude,

The SOLE Colombia Foundation Team

Queridos amigos y amigas,
