Reporting Period | November 2025 – February 2026
Dear SOTENI Supporters and Friends,
Over the past few months, the work across SOTENI’s three Villages of Hope in rural Kenya: Mbakalo, Ugunja, and Mituntu, has continued steadily thanks to your support. Together, communities are strengthening access to healthcare, support networks, and economic opportunities.
At the SVH Mbakalo Health Center, 688 clients received care during this reporting period. Services included outpatient visits, maternal care, antenatal services, child wellness clinics, and safe deliveries. For many families in the surrounding rural communities, this clinic remains one of the most accessible places to receive consistent and dignified healthcare 24/7.
Beyond the clinic, SOTENI’s AIDS Barefoot Doctors (ABDs) remained closely connected with the community. Through support group meetings and home visits, ABDs reached 2,910 support group members, providing psychosocial support and health education on nutrition, wellness, hygiene, fecal waste management, and safe water practices. These regular visits help individuals stay connected to care, strengthen treatment adherence, and build healthier daily practices within their homes.
Support groups also continued engaging in income-generating activities, including table banking, livestock rearing, poultry farming, small agricultural projects, and community savings groups. These activities help families strengthen household stability while building long-term resilience.
This period also reflected the strength of the SOTENI community beyond Kenya. In December, supporters gathered for a small meet-and-greet event at Deadlow Brewing in partnership with Swazi SHEROES, creating space for conversation, connection, and shared commitment to community health. In February, we also hosted the SOTENI Soirée in Cincinnati, where friends, volunteers, and long-time supporters came together to learn more about the work happening in Kenya and celebrate the impact made possible by this growing community.
Because of your support, families continue to access healthcare, communities remain connected through support groups, and hope continues to grow.
We look forward to sharing more updates with you in the coming months as this work continues to grow. Thank you for walking alongside SOTENI.
