Project Report | Dec 22, 2022
Season's Greetings from the Animals of Eswatini!

By Margaret Dean-Smith | Project Leader

As we approach the end of the year and we look back on 2022, we are grateful that we got through another year despite all the ups and downs.  We are still extremely excited that we successfully completed our 2022 clinics in August, AND we are already planning our programme for 2023!

We are planning two Spay/Neuter Clinics and possibly a ‘Wellness/Rabies’ Clinic if we are able to source supplies of rabies vaccine to carry out a Clinic in a rural area known to have a high population of dogs. Rabies is still a concerning issue in rural areas.  We are investigating possible venues and making our enquiries about suitable schools to use as Clinics, as this takes quite a bit of planning and working with key stakeholders.  Convincing Head Teachers that we will not ‘trash’ their school is our number one priority!  We then have to get permission from the local Chief or Induna, which can be quite a protracted procedure. Nevertheless, we continue to spay and neuter all pets adopted from our two Shelters as well as some very needy cases.  We hope to have positive updates early in the New Year.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who continue to support us.

There are so many animals that desperately need our help.  Your support enables us to make a bigger impact as we strive towards a society free from animal cruelty and neglect.

We are truly grateful to have you as part of the SAWS family.

May your holidays be filled with happiness, peace and love.
