Many thanks to those of you who supported GlobalGiving's ‘Little by Little’ matching campaign, held from the 3rd to 7th April.
We're still working on confirming a date for our first clinic of 2023, but we hope to be able to hold it in June/July within the boundaries of Mbabane, as there are many needy dogs within the area. We are hopeful that the Municipal Council will assist us with this Clinic.
Our second one should be held on the 16th or 23rd September if our plans go well. This will be in the Herefords area in northern Eswatini, although the venue has not yet been confirmed. This will coincide with World Rabies Day and so we hope to incorporate a RABIES drive at the same time. Eswatini has had a few Rabies cases over the past few months.
We also hope to incorporate the Government Veterinary Assistant students into these Clinics as a practical part of their courses. They will have completed the GARC Rabies Educator and their Animal Handling courses by then.
We continue to Spay/Neuter all cats and dogs adopted from our two shelters and at present have a special programme in place at our Manzini branch.
Other than these Clinics, which are very helpful to needy people, we try to educate where possible in schools, the newspapers and over the radio. We are sometimes lucky enough to be featured on the TV as well. These are all excellent, if sometimes short, windows of opportunity.
We also have a very active Facebook page https://facebook.com/SwazilandAnimalWelfare and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/swazilandanimalwelfaresociety/ where we post pictures of our adoptable cats and dogs; special cases - where we can show what a little TLC can do, and sometimes what we are building/refurbishing at our shelters.
So do follow us on social media to keep up all the news and updates!
Once again, we thank you for your continued support and hope to have some good news of a completed Clinic by the time our next report is due.
