Industrial Exposure Visit to Bata Shoes Factory.

Roshni Homes Trust is delighted to share an exciting experiential learning opportunity undertaken by our youth from the Palms Enclave, Gujranwala— an industrial visit to the Bata Shoes manufacturing facility in Batapur, near Lahore.

The visit offered a rare chance for our young learners to witness modern industrial processes, observe large-scale manufacturing operations, and connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications.

Bata Pakistan is one of the country’s most iconic industrial brands, with origins dating back to the early 1940s. Batapur itself was established historically as a factory town for Bata employees, reflecting how industry and community have developed together over decades. It remains a prominent example of industrial growth and urban settlement in the region.

Connecting Learning with Industrial Realities

During the visit, students were able to:

Observe production lines first-hand and learn how raw materials, such as leather and rubber, are transformed into finished footwear products.
Understand quality control systems that ensure products meet both local and international quality standards.
See automated and semi-automated machinery in action — demonstrating how modern manufacturing blends human skill with technology.

Many students expressed that seeing the workflow and organization of a major manufacturing facility helped them better grasp concepts they had learned theoretically in school. They gained insight into career opportunities in manufacturing, engineering, production management, quality assurance, and logistics.

Inspiration Beyond the Classroom

The visit did more than educate — it inspired. For several young attendees, this exposure expanded their worldview and sparked interest in new career paths they had not previously considered. Observing how industrial systems work encouraged students to think about innovation, discipline, teamwork, and problem-solving — skills essential for professional growth.

Greening the Future: Orphans Lead Monsoon Plantation

At Roshni Homes Trust, we believe in nurturing not only our children but also the planet they will inherit. In a powerful display of youth leadership and environmental responsibility, a passionate group of young volunteers from Kahkashan recently organized a plantation drive at Palms Enclave, focusing on the urgent need for environmental conservation.

Planting Hope, One Tree at a Time

The initiative was more than just tree planting — it was a call to action. Dozens of saplings were planted with care and commitment, each representing a promise for a healthier, more sustainable future. The volunteers, many of them students and community members, brought energy, purpose, and hope to the event.

Raising Awareness: “Save Our Planet”

Alongside the plantation activity, an interactive awareness session was conducted under the theme "Save Our Planet." The session educated participants — including children from Roshni Homes — on pressing environmental issues such as climate change, global warming, and the importance of reducing our carbon footprint. Through engaging discussions and real-world examples, the session emphasized how small, everyday actions can lead to significant environmental impact.

Children learned about:

The role of trees in combating climate change.
How human activity affects ecosystems.
Easy ways to adopt sustainable practices — like using less plastic, conserving water, and planting locally beneficial species.

Lasting Impact

This youth-led effort served as an inspiring example of how community and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. For the children at Roshni Homes, it was not only an opportunity to connect with nature but also to become active participants in the global movement for sustainability.

Nutrition Education & Assessments at RHT

At Roshni Homes Trust, the health and well-being of our children remain a top priority. In our continuous efforts to improve their quality of life, we recently partnered with GIFT University’s Center for Experiential Learning, led by Ms. Maria Arshad, to conduct a comprehensive nutrition workshop and health assessment for the children at our campus.

‍ Complete Nutritional Assessment

A dedicated team from GIFT University carried out full nutritional assessments of all children. These assessments included:

Demographic data collection
Anthropometric measurements (height, weight, BMI)
Physical health evaluations
Dietary history and meal frequency records

This data provided valuable insights into the current nutritional status of each child and helped identify specific areas where improvements were needed.

Interactive Nutrition Sessions

In addition to assessments, the team organized interactive workshops to raise awareness among the children about healthy eating habits. These sessions were fun, age-appropriate, and highly engaging, helping the children understand the importance of a balanced diet in their daily lives.

A New and Improved Nutrition Plan

Using the assessment results, a personalized and improved nutrition plan was developed for the home. This revised plan ensures that all meals served to the children are more balanced, nutrient-rich, and tailored to their developmental needs. The plan also includes updated portion sizes, more diverse food groups, and scheduled meal times to encourage healthier eating habits.
