Strengthening Capacities for Peraj Mexico Mentors

By Peras Mexico | Peraj Mexico

Dear Donors,

Warm greetings, and please accept our sincere appreciation for the trust you have placed in Peraj México A.C. Thanks to your continued support, over the past few months we have advanced a process of ongoing training for the mentors who work closely with the children enrolled in our program. Below, we are pleased to share the main milestones achieved.

Training Workshops Delivered

In December, we held the workshop “Prevention as a Tool to Address Violence,” delivered by the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH). A total of 140 mentors took part in this session, which provided practical tools to identify risk factors, foster safe environments, and strengthen early response skills when facing situations of violence that may affect the children and adolescents we support.

In February, mentors participated in a training focused on Suicide Prevention, which aimed to raise awareness around warning signs, protective factors, and appropriate referral pathways. This workshop contributed to more empathetic, informed, and responsible mentoring practices.

The Women Leaders Diploma Program, developed in partnership with Universidad Insurgentes, Santander, and Dalia, brought together 40 female mentors and became a key space for leadership development. The program focused on strengthening leadership skills, integrating a gender perspective, and enhancing decision-making capacities. Throughout the course, participants gained practical tools to reinforce their role as agents of change within their communities and in their work with children and youth. Given the strong interest and positive outcomes, a new cohort is planned to expand its reach and benefit a greater number of mentors.

Additionally, in February we delivered our capacity-building program in collaboration with Enseña por México, in which 30 mentors have participated to date.

These training processes enhance the quality of one-on-one mentoring by equipping mentors with stronger emotional, pedagogical, and self-care resources, enabling them to provide more comprehensive support to participating children. Each trained mentor represents improved socio-emotional, educational, and personal development opportunities for hundreds of children.

None of this would be possible without your generosity. Your contributions through GlobalGiving are transformed into knowledge, prevention, and hope for our community. We reaffirm our commitment to transparent reporting on progress and to continuing to build partnerships that change lives.

With gratitude,
The Peraj México A.C. Team
