Cape Town sports this past quarter held a Derby Day, an interschool sports competition, representing four different communities. These communities include Constantia, Steenberg, Langa and Khayelitsha. This Derby Day was a hit! Last year only 44 students participated with two communities present where this year 100 kids participated representing 4 different communities - a 56 student participation increase!
We always love working with our partner, Sporting Chance, as without them none of this would be possible. Bradlyn from Sporting Chance made the comment, "it is a great way to get kids active and involved and I just love the work we do!".
A participant in the sporting competition commented, "I love to play netball because her and her friends don't fight when they play". This sporting competition really gives them the opportunity to practice in a safe, supportive environment with positive influences around them. Additionally, healthy snacks were also given to keep up their energy levels.
Thanks to everyone who has been involved and be on the lookout for an update and fundraising opportunities for the end of year rugby and soccer competition!
