STEAMing it Up!!

Sharing his Excitement

This school year we are working to bolster students’ core skills through STEAM. We customize our programs to meet the needs of the class and the teaching cirriculum. Working closely with the teachers and arts liasons we specifically design our time within the classroom to have the most impact in each childs life.

In both our research and practice we’re finding more and more evidence supporting the power of integrating the arts into science, technology, engineering and math lessons to create “STEAM”. We’re excited to be part of the movement to inspire today’s students to become tomorrow’s ground-breakers in exciting and new ways, who contribute to enhancing our communities and nation as a whole.

Here are some of Story Tapestries’ current STEAM programs:

Arts-Integrated Storytelling: Learn the Standards through dance, spoken word, writing and drama (ALL curriculum)
Math+Arts Integration=Empowered Math Understanding
Wonderfully Ridiculous Letter Stories: Using Creative Writing and Storytelling to Motivate and Improve Literacy
Discovering the Power of the Written Word: Creating Visual Storytelling with a Combination of Visual art and Creative Writing
Discovering the Power of the Written Word: Using Creative Writing and Storytelling to Motivate Students to Become Authors
STEM plus Arts=Learning Full STEAM Ahead: Using Story, Movement and Visual Images to explain the Principles of Science
STEM plus Arts=Learning Full STEAM Ahead: A Highly Engaging Kinesthetic Exploration of the Scientific Process
His-story, Her-Story, Our-Story: Explaining history through writing, drama and dance
Stories-in-Motion= Fiction and Non-fiction plus Dance and Story
Family Innovation Nights: The entire family spends 1 and a half to 3 hours making and creating anything from robots to books.
Professional Development for teachers: Build practical skills for improving classroom management, teaching to multiple levels in the classroom, and using the arts to engage students in their academic lesson
