Fourth quarterly report for GlobalGiving
Project Title: Stop hunger for indigenous families in Honduras (53804)
One of the current priorities in Honduras is food production to address the food crisis faced by families, especially exacerbated by the negative effects of climate change and the high cost of agricultural inputs. In this quarter, project resources have been invested in support to farming families, which have been provided with some materials and equipment for the production of vegetables and basic grains.
Main achievements:
Strengthened livelihoods and food sovereignty of families in rural communities.
Thanks to the technical support and resource management of the COMAL Network, at least 15 rural families have guaranteed the production of corn and beans, these grains constitute the daily diet consumed by families in communities in the south and west of the country.
Some families have been supported with seeds for growing vegetables for home consumption and when there is surplus production they are marketed locally.
On behalf of the producer organizations, staff and directors of the COMAL Network, we reiterate our gratitude to all the kind-hearted people who offer their financial support through GlobalGiving.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
