Dear donors,
We would like to share with you the progress of the project “Strengthening the Health of 99 Tseltal Families,” which remains active in the communities of San Miguel Canxanil, San José Patwits, and San Marcos Tulijá, located in the Chiapas jungle in Mexico, during the first half of 2025.
In April 2025, the eighth health campaign was carried out in the aforementioned communities, reaching 115 children and adolescents, of whom 27 were diagnosed with some degree of anemia. We are currently designing strategies to investigate and address the causes. As part of the intervention, ferrous fumarate and nutritional supplements were distributed to the children identified with anemia, accompanied by a brief talk or reflection with their families. The goal is to raise awareness among mothers about the importance of correctly administering both the ferrous fumarate and the nutritional supplement, highlighting how these directly contribute to the recovery and improved health of children diagnosed with anemia.
Eco-friendly stoves were installed across the three communities—29 in San Marcos, 20 in San José, and 18 in San Miguel—for a total of 67. These efforts contribute to building a healthier Tseltal home by reducing firewood use and smoke inhalation. Similarly, water purification filters were installed—29 in San Marcos, 18 in San Miguel, and 22 in San José—ensuring access to safe drinking water, which helps reduce infections and supports the nutritional well-being of children.
Queridos donantes
