The Rural Women Development Trust (RWDT) is dedicated to empowering rural women, rescued bonded labourers, and vulnerable young women by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. This initiative helps women break free from poverty, avoid re-entry into bonded labour, and build secure futures.

In partnership with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), RWDT has launched a one-month Entrepreneurship Skill Development Program at K.R. Thoppur, Tharamangalam block, Salem district. The training runs from 12th August to 12th September 2025.

Skill Development for Sustainable Livelihoods

This program focuses on training women in making high-demand, eco-friendly jute products such as:

  • Shopping bags
  • Laptop bags
  • Lunch bags
  • Files
  • Pouches

By promoting jute-based production, the program encourages environmentally friendly business practices while opening doors to self-employment and income generation.

Training Highlights

  • Hands-on workshops in jute crafting techniques.
  • Entrepreneurship training in pricing, quality control, and market access.
  • Business management skills to start and grow micro-enterprises.
  • Sustainability awareness to align with eco-conscious markets.

Impact on Women’s Empowerment

The 50 women selected for this batch will gain the skills and confidence to:

  • Start their own jute businesses.
  • Sell products in local markets, exhibitions, and online platforms.
  • Form self-help groups (SHGs) for collective marketing and production.

RWDT believes economic self-reliance is the key to women’s empowerment. Through livelihood training, entrepreneurship development, and skill-building, RWDT enables women to achieve financial independence, dignity, and social inclusion.
