Hello everyone!
We hoped you all had great time during your Christmas and New Year break with your close friends, families and loved ones.
Centre Marembo has a couple of updates that happened before the New Year 2026:
We organized and led a one-day community outreach on 9 December 2025. The activity was conducted in partnership with Imirasire Youth Clinic of Marembo , Marembo Health Post, and Ndera Sector authorities, targeting the communities of Cyaruzinge, Bwiza, Mukuyu, and Rudashya.
The initiative aimed to foster community learning, promote collective action against GBV, and strengthen access to essential services including sexual and reproductive health, mental health, legal support, and NCD screening.
The goal is to strengthen community awareness, prevention, and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), while promoting holistic health through integrated SRH services, mental health support, and Non Communicable Disease (NCD) screenings.
Key Activities Conducted
A. Community Awareness and Advocacy Sessions
Ndera Sector – In Charge of Citizen Complaints:
Led an engaging session on child registration, parental responsibilities, and children’s rights. The facilitator emphasized the critical role of civil registration in ensuring every child’s legal identity, access to essential services such as education and healthcare, and strengthened protection within the community.
MAJ Officer – Gasabo District:
Delivered a comprehensive presentation on the legal framework governing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Key areas covered included the different forms of GBV, applicable penalties, and legal procedures. The officer also clarified reporting pathways and highlighted survivor rights, reinforcing the community’s role in prevention and accountability.
Centre Marembo Representative:
Shared powerful real-life testimonies drawn from cases managed by Centre Marembo, illustrating the lived experiences of survivors particularly young girls, adolescent mothers, and vulnerable youth. The representative spoke on the emotional, social, and economic impact of GBV and encouraged community members to take an active role in prevention, early reporting, and supporting affected individuals
Overall achievements
2. Damage from strong rainy winds
Due to the strong rainy weather at the end of 2025, our chicken shed coop was damaged. Thankfully we did not have any chickens at the time so there was no loss of livestock. Unfortunately that means we have to cover the damages.
We will bring new updates on projects and activities that will happen soon in 2026.
